LeRoy Eugene Cowles was born April 13, 1880 in Chester, Utah. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago in 1910 and 1913. In 1914 he came to the University of Utah as an Assistant Professor of Education, then was made a full Professor. He took leave to attend the University of California and received his Ph.D. in 1926. He was selected as new President of the University in Oct. of 1941. He retired Jan. 1, 1946 and died Jan. 2, 1957. From the description of ...
